PFS-PAXUS is a two tier client server system. The relational database is Microsoft SQL server and the front end is developed in PowerBuilder. The server requires Microsoft Windows 2005 Server or greater. Client workstations use Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7 or greater.

The system can operate across a wide area network and also via an internet connection, both subject to having adequate bandwidth. Nearly all processing is performed on the server.

Users can access the system via Microsoft ODBC (provided they have been set up with appropriate access rights) using the same id and password that they do for the client software.
